A Flydubai passenger flight travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv was diverted to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday after emergency signals were transmitted during the journey.
Flydubai Flight FZ1073 was travelling towards Tel Aviv when it diverted over Jordanian airspace and headed towards Tabuk in northwestern Saudi Arabia.
According to an Israeli official speaking to Reuters, the two pilots had a physical altercation in the cockpit, after which emergency signals were transmitted.
The incident initially raised concerns about a possible hijacking after the aircraft transmitted an emergency signal indicating possible unlawful interference.
Flight-tracking data showed the Boeing 737 making a rapid descent before the emergency signals were transmitted.
The aircraft later landed safely at Tabuk airport.
Flydubai said the aircraft had experienced an incident while en route to Tel Aviv and confirmed that all passengers were safe and accounted for.
The Israeli Prime Minister's Office said the incident was not believed to have been a hijacking.
Israeli authorities responded to the emergency situation while officials assessed what had happened.
The investigation into the incident, including what occurred inside the cockpit, is continuing.
