Police have launched a murder investigation after a 40-year-old man was fatally shot during a memorial service in west London.

Officers were called at around 7:47pm on Friday, 2 October, after members of the public reported hearing multiple shots near the junction of Braybrook Street and Erconwald Street in East Acton.

The London Ambulance Service also attended and treated the man at the scene, but despite efforts by medical staff, he was pronounced dead.

Police said between 40 and 50 people, including children, were gathered for the memorial service when the incident happened. The victim's family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place, although police believe the man suffered a gunshot wound.

No arrests have been made. A crime scene remains in place on Braybrook Street while detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Detectives are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who was in the area between 6pm and 8pm, including around Braybrook Street, Erconwald Street, surrounding roads and Wormwood Scrubs.

Police are also asking for anyone with mobile phone footage, dashcam recordings, doorbell footage, photographs or relevant social media posts to come forward.
